South Sydney – 2015 NRL Auckland Nines Champs
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been crowned the 2015 NRL Auckland Nines champions. In a final that lasted nearly 30 minutes we saw the only two unbeaten teams all day take on each other in a game that was certainly worthy of a final.
The teams traded tries early on until the Bunnies shot out to a 10 point lead. The Sharks fought hard and were rewarded with a try 15 seconds before the full time hooter. Still down by two, as cool as you like Valentine Holmes slotted the best conversion of the weekend giving the Cronulla Sharks a chance at their first trophy in a million years.
Extra time was another nine minutes of intensity and the old timer Matt King sealed it for the 2014 NRL champions in the left hand corner.
The Bunnies will now have to make room in their trophy cabinet for the very colourful Nines version and the Sharks, well they will all likely be drug tested as soon as they get back to the dressing room because the football they played this weekend seemed far too good considering the shit they have produced in the last couple of NRL seasons.
